Eight qualities that can be activated naturally during a healthy upbringing.
If life didn't activate all eight, it is never too late.
Between the ages of one and fifteen, a loving, connected upbringing will switch on eight qualities in each and every one of us: love, safety, playfulness, independence, autonomy, confidence, magnetism, and the ability to know we can provide for ourselves.
Many childhoods do not manage all eight, but happily, the part of us that was doing the switching is still listening. This site sets out what the switches are, the conditions that would ideally have made them forever part of our being, and how to ask for help engaging the ones that never came on.
The 8 Switches combined give a sense of being centred and at ease with life.
My aim is that this info and method can be used and shared widely — to help people worldwide enjoy being themselves, live in harmony with each other, and give parents a helpful focus for the development of their offspring.
During a session with a client who couldn't bring herself to trust her own judgement — a pattern that traced straight back to a childhood where her decisions were rarely trusted — Mike found himself thinking, "I can't give this woman a happy childhood." Then, unprompted, an inner-voice answered: "Yes you can. It's just a switch." That moment — realising a quality missing since childhood could still be requested, decades later — is where this whole approach began.
From the Hawaiian teachings shared by Serge Kahili King (author of Urban Shaman), the self isn't split into a conscious mind and a dark, unknowable subconscious. It's three parts, working together — and the part that is our bodymind is glad to be asked to help.
Links you to all and everything — to Oneness.
The conscious, thinking mind, which plans and reasons.
Feelings, memory, beliefs and every subconscious process keeping you safe and functioning healthily. It stores the switches — and it answers requests.
Tap a switch to see what "on" feels like. Missing a few switches is very common — many people are.
Effective respectful communication needs to be established. Any reliable way of getting a clear yes/no from the body-mind will do — this is the sequence used here.
Establish a clear yes/no with the ku — muscle testing, pendulum dowsing, or another binary (i.e. yes/no) calibrated method you already trust.
Ask if the ku (of self or client) is happy to help in activating all the Ku Switches. In order, working through each switch one by one, ask if the quality was able to be activated at the appropriate age and is still functioning fully. If "yes," move on to the next switch. If "no," continue to the next step.
Where a switch is off, ask the ku why the original conditions weren't met — the cause is often clear: a house move, a family disruption, a separation, a loss. Often a negative belief sits behind it too, lodged by the ku like an old, unhelpful line of code. Find it through careful yes/no questioning, the way you'd narrow down an answer in twenty questions. These beliefs are usually just an offhand remark from an unthinking adult, taken to heart as truth. Once it's named precisely, the ku will delete it gladly — it loves accuracy, and only needs the belief brought fully into view to let it go.
Once free of limits, ask again for this quality to be activated in the person and confirm processing is going ahead. Once a clear "yes" is received, move on to the next switch. The ku is happy to follow our request.
Integration of the whole set tends to take six to eight weeks. After that, it's not remembered as a fix — it just feels like we had the whole set all along.

This work is offered freely in the same spirit as it was received. I have used the info from Huna shamans gifted to us by S.K. King, inspiration that came to me in a moment of need and clarity, followed by exploration and practise on myself and clients. If it's useful to you or your practice, here's how to go further.
"Mike has been on a profound journey over the thirty years that I have known him, and a remarkable transformation has occurred with him in the last few years. It seems to have largely resulted from a courageous and committed approach to self-development that took him into the darkest passages of his personal history, and to such a willing encounter with the more vulnerable aspects of his personality. He seems to have emerged a much more confident and rock-steady person who, to me, is unequivocally a healer — someone who has helped me and is clearly helping others, with extreme clarity of presence and great love. His matter-of-fact and humorous approach is immediately disarming. It is quite a wonderful and mysterious thing to witness the conversation that goes on between him, his guides, and my own subconscious — as if I am just a third party to the whole affair."
